What is a Jane-athon?

A Jane-athon is a hackathon for metadata about Jane Austen and her works. The output of a Jane-athon is an r-ball focussed on the RDA Person entity with the Library of Congress Control Number "n79032879".

The main tool used in a Jane-athon is version 3 of RIMMF (RDA in Many Metadata Formats)

First Jane-athon

The Jane-athon prototype in Hawaii in December, 2014 contributed valuable information to the planning of a full-scale event.

The first Jane-athon took place on January 30, 2015 at ALA MidWinter in Chicago, USA.

Second Jane-athon

The second Jane-athon took place on June 26, 2015 at ALA Annual in San Francisco, USA.

RIMMF data is packaged as RIMMF-balls. The Jane Austen base has basic data for the novels of Jane Austen. The Ur-ball for Jane Austen's Emma has data for the first edition of Emma, and is a simple example of a single RIMMF-ball suitable for demonstrating the core functions of RIMMF3.
